Fiddlin Guy |
Since my last entry (a year and a half ago), I have moved to Peabody MA from Reading MA and have become a supervisor at work (Business-to-Business Research).
I've been playing more Cajun and less Irish music lately. Just happenstance, I guess.
I play Cajun and Zydeco on fiddle and mando with The Squeezebox Stompers.
I do some double fiddling with my buddy Herb Smooth on some Celtic stuff with the Jolly Rogues.
I play guitar and mando occasionally with the great fiddler/ fiddle educator/ all-around nice guy Dave Reiner with the Reiner Family band.
And I do an ocassional "Beatles meets Bluegrass" stint with Barry Michaud and Herb Smooth as the Breakheart Ramblers.
Last weekend, I suprised my first musical mentor banjoist Jim McCrohan of Shrewsbury MA by sitting in at one of his gigs.
I was in his band (Jug o Punch) from about 1975-1977. Jim has had the band and a steady Sunday gig at the Oldtimer Restaurant in Clinton MA for 37 years! That must be a record.
Cheers for now,
Paul
