Started playing fiddle in '77, mostly bluegrass/country. Started playing in bands around Houston in the early '80's. The movie Urban Cowboy made it pretty easy to get a gig if you could play Cotton-Eyed Joe/Schottische and OBS. I was soon playing everything from Bob Wills to Charlie Daniels. House bands to road bands, Gene Autry to Pink Floyd, I love playing them all. If it's a good song, I don't care what the genre is, I like playing it, with the exceptions of Irish and OT Texas fiddling, which are too melodically repetitive, IMO. Today, I play about 2-3 times a week in a good week. Major fiddler influences are Bob Wills (Keith Coleman & Louis Tierney), Stephan Grappelli, Vassar Clements, Mark O'Connor, Jean-Luc Ponty, Stuart Duncan, Ricky Skaggs, Darol Anger, Tommy Jackson, Doug Kershaw, Johnny Gimble, Kenny Baker. Bobby Hicks.
