I am 24 years old and started playing when I was 14. My parents are into bluegrass and gave me a fiddle and a Mel Bay video for Christmas. Long story short, I learned everything I could off the video and began taking lessons with a Great fiddler named Carl Rebello. He has played with Don Stover and also Bill Hall years and years ago. I learned with Carl on and off for 7 or 8 years and am not currently taking lessons. Carl has a real traditional style about his playing which I really try to replicate and can hear in my playing. I am very thankful that he has given that to me. I am so addicted to bluegrass it's not even funny. I love to jam with people, especially other musicians that I havent played with yet. I am always ready to pick and simply cant get enough of it. I am really into traditional, Hard driving bluegrass, the kind that gets your foot tappin! I own two fiddles, One of them I was told circa 1890's but has since been restored. the other is a 1920 German fiddle which I bought from Sammy Shelor and was set up by Mike Heartgrove. I love this fiddle, it has a great deep sound to it! I am a bit upset since it broke and and it hasnt sounded the same since... :( I think it just needs a soundpost adjustment. I am really interested in finding out more about music theory and chords, I am an ear player.
