I’ve been playing the violin since 2017, and over time it has become more than just a skill—it’s a way I structure focus, express emotion, and connect with patterns that feel both logical and creative. My background working with the Asperger Syndrome & High Functioning Autism Association has shaped how I approach music: I’m naturally drawn to clarity, repetition, and the subtle variations that make each piece unique. When I first started, I was interested in the technical side—intonation, timing, and consistency. The violin demands precision, and that structure was something I immediately connected with. Over time, though, I began to appreciate the expressive side just as much. There’s a balance between discipline and interpretation that keeps me engaged every time I play. I tend to gravitate toward pieces that have a clear emotional direction but also allow space for interpretation. Classical works are a big part of my practice, especially those that challenge both technique and focus. At the same time, I enjoy exploring modern arrangements and even minimalist compositions, where small changes in tone or rhythm can completely shift the mood. Playing the violin has also taught me patience. Progress isn’t always linear, and small improvements often come from consistent repetition rather than big breakthroughs. That process mirrors a lot of what I see in my professional work—growth happens through structure, persistence, and understanding your own pace. What keeps me motivated is the combination of order and creativity. A piece of music can follow strict rules while still feeling deeply personal. Whether I’m practicing scales, working through a challenging passage, or simply playing for myself, the violin gives me a sense of balance that’s hard to find elsewhere. I’m here to keep learning, exchange ideas, and connect with others who appreciate both the technical and expressive sides of playing.
