Just sold to someone who called up, I think a classical player. It was really a long time ago.
Beautiful fiddle, completely restored, warm and supple, well balanced, plays easily. Bears label "Walter Jais" indicates Dresden 1884 and maker to the Royal Court of Saxony. Broad channels, ornate F holes, Amber varnish with yellow ground showing in places that are worn. Top is slightly irregular grained 2 piece spruce, open grain at the edges, otherwise tight. Two piece back, nicely flamed but not strong figure. Very enjoyable to play. Professional level instrument.
