Well I've never heard it played quite like that before.
Have you ever heard the 5-part version of the tune?
Just call me Dwight.

Oooo, I like! Similar to Elmer Rich's version, but it's crooked in a different way from his, and Elmer's is only two part.

Konnichiwa Bosco-san,
You had quite the hoedown in Kyotyo! I thought I was back in the hollar in the 1930's. I wish I could dance, cause I woulda been.

Larry,
Yeah, I forgot about John Johnson.
bj,
Mine is inspired by Ernie Carpenter, another great WV fiddler.
mudbug,
Don't dance to this one. 'Caz, it has 5 beats somewhere.
bsed,
Yes, Charley was the fiddler. What did Al do?

Al Hopkins played piano, sometimes a little portable one, and was the "manager": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Hopkins
We used to play a version of "Forky Deer" that was crooked, but not that crooked!

Look for a recording of my 5 part version on this page.

I would have learned it from Larry a few years back. Hope I did it justice. :-)
The batch on that page was recorded outside of Melbourne, VIC Australia this year. Most of the players had not heard the 5 part version before. A good time was had by all.
Cheers,
Terri

Terri,
Your 3 parts (c, d, e) are different from Charlie Bowman's. Maybe we should combine them to create an 8-part tune!![]()
Just call me Dwight.
