Hearth Curdts, a fretless banjo wizard, visited Kyoto last week. Heath studied fretless clawhammer banjo intensively with Tommy Jarrell in the mid 70s~80s.
Here are some old Galax and Pound Peak favorites from the jam session we had one night at the Irish pub in down town Kyoto.
Hearth on banjo and vocal
Bosco on fiddle
Jeffey Yamada or Isaac Enloe on guitar

Bey bosco,
That's some good stuff! Thanks for sharing your tunes! This is some of the stuff I am interested in learning!
Crossing my fingers and hoping the creek don't rise so I will be at Galax and or Clifftop this year. If I do of course I'll have it made in the shade if the tree don't fall!

Kyoto isn't so far away, knowing you are there. wish i could join you, but summer is busy construction season.
one of my sons has been a J.E.T.,(fukoako province, 2006) and is planning a trip back to visit this year. maybe i can accompany him, if schedules permit.

Domo Arigato, Bosco- San.
You guys sounded great! Were the audiences appreciative?
Do they get to hear much of this style?

I can imagine paying $8.00 for a pint in the "Round Peak" region - but it wouldn't be a pint of Guiness... ![]()
