^Big Scioty. Me on fiddle, banjo, and mando. At this point I've been playing fiddle for 10 months, and trying to play old time since december. Based off of 2 youtube versions I listened to (Aly Bain's and David Bragger's). Standard Tuning.

^Jack o' Diamonds/Jack's Creek Ridge. The first is sort of my own version. The second is played similarly to David Bragger's version on youtube (I don't have a teacher so most of the tunes that I know are based off of either recordings or people on youtube). GDGB

That's some mighty fine playing. So a year in Naperville is like 10 years anywhere else?

This is really great music. Played with lots of enthusiasm and feeling. For those who have been playing only a few months and can't imagine sounding like this even after a few years, don't worry about it. There are always a few outlyers who screw up the curve.

It"s Sunday morning and I thought to browse FHO; found your post and said to myself "Hmmm...Big Scioty.... I must hear how a 10 month old is doing." Congratulations, that is spectacular whether 10 months or 10 years. I fully agree with JIm that your intrepretaton and technique are superb. That's the second time that this tune has really caught me; the first was by Bruce Mosley. Now that's good company!!!

Wow, thanks for all the really encouraging words. I'll try to get some more stuff recorded/posted sometime soon.

Nice! Jack's Creek Ridge is a favorite tune of mine. You made it square, which makes it danceable. Good playing. Good tones.

By the way, this sounds like a Bruce Greene rendition of Jack'sCreekRidge, which is also where I got it.

To think that I was in Naperville last Saturday. I should have drunk the water whilst I was there. If I had only known.
