Good day all. I love the Song "Back in the Saddle Again, '' by Roy Rogers and would love to learn to play it on fiddle Does anybody know it in the key of D?

"Back in the Saddle Again" was the first song I ever learned to pick out with one finger on the piano, with the help of my Dad. It was co-written and always associated with Gene Autry, who used it for his radio theme song and the title of his autobiography.
I can play it in any key, but I think the sheet music I had was in G.

It begins om the third note of the scale in whatever key you choose.

Don't know it by Roy but here's Gene's fiddle intro.

I play it in C, which is how it is in the music I have of Ray Whitley and Gene Autry. It's easy to play in C.

I just did a little YouTubing, and it seems the original recording was in C. There was one early film where he did in D, but C was Gene Autry's usual key. We did it in a theater show in C, but I was playing guitar.
