I built a cigar box fiddle by looking at how a regular fiddle is built with the bass bare and sound post and string length and such. I used an old cigar box from the 1960s, and a neck o purchased. I cut the sound post from a parade flag from the 1940s, and carved the bass bar from a piece of cedar from and old broken up chest. I guess it would have stories to tell if it could talk. But the music I play on it is its voice. I'm fairly new to the fiddle, (I'm more of a mountain dulcimer player) but I enjoy playing something I made.

Sounds like you had fun building that cigar box fiddle. They are fun.

It’s got stories! Now play and make it tell them.
I built a whiskey box fiddle a few years ago. I don’t play it often enough.
