i prefer the tune not to resolve, making it sound more like the tumbling waterfall motif. It only resolves in the end

I have been experimenting (for better recording sound) with holding the microphone two to three feet above the fiddle, pointing down. Give it a try! It might help your recording sound quality!

Nice job Wooliver. I have never heard this tune played with the low part first. I learned the tune from contra dance players in New Hampshire, so maybe high part first is a New England thing. Is low part first more widely played elsewhere? I ask because I am about to put up three versions of this tune on my website as a tune lesson, and I should talk about the part order if there is some regional variation.

I see that the Donald Zepp rendition is high part first. Mighty fine playing too. Don't know where he's from.

Mr. Zepp plays it more correct than i.

The way i play it, is by no means the definative.

As far as A or B, or Hi or Lo first, I've never gave it thought. I've heard some start off Bill Cheatem, Arkansas Traveler, or Coming Down From Denver with what i would think is the B part. Just maybe, if one part is easier than the other, would you play it first or last? It certainly drives home the notion of a "circular" dance tune.

Like "Jim" I too learned it from my contra pickin'...Irish loving friends in Maine.

I kinda give it a little bit of a "hillbilly" kick in the pants when I play it with them...they don't seem to mind.

Oh, and we play the "high" part first.
