Anyone wanna record bonepart crossing the rhine for me please.

I feel in love with it practicing today..

Thank you...cross tuning is addictive.

After years of driving bluegrass as cramp level speeds it is
very nice to play "old time fiddle" I am loving this.

Hi Willy,

Glad to hear you're having a good time.

There's a version on my Fiddle Hangout homepage. It was recorded at an OT gathering outside of Melbourne, Australia. My buddy Tom on the banjo and assorted Aussie's joining in.

This has become a favorite tune at the Pegram Jam.
Here is a version we played a few weeks ago:

Thank you both, I have both of those tunes for practicing
now and I like them both. PEGRAMJAM is a great web site too!

So since I am at it, can I ask the age old question.
I use helicore strings, is there a OLD TIME string brand?

My fiddle is a redish light brown
no label andsounds amazing for $450.00 so I am happy with it.
As a matter a fact people with 1 thousand dollar fiddles
all fancy and pretty drop the jaw when I let the play "freddle".

So should I just keep using these helicore strings now that you
know how I feel about the fiddle? Or since it sounds good now would
it sound better with another type?

I use Prim mediums strings. They take to tuning up and down well, I think. I leave them on for about 4 months at a time, sometimes longer.

I liked your Cherokee Shuffle Willy. It was well played. I certainly can't play it as well. The only comment I would make is it didn't make me tap my feet. I didn't feel the rhythm coming through.

Listen to this one.

This young lady has the advantage of a banjo helping her out, but you can still hear her emphasizing the downbeats to give the song a "toe tapping" feel.

Yes I think you are right too. I need to get the dance into it.
Thank you and I am going to think about that too.

I listen to the girl play...I am going to practice with her she is
better than me for sure...I think she has that beat down.

Good stuff !
