Cool! Thanks for putting this up. I have the Repertory book and some audio tracks, but not all of these. I just uploaded my version of Money Musk that I started out learning from the transcription - interesting for me to hear Bob Walters and how far away I am from that. I look forward to listening to the rest of these.

Where in the world did you find all these recordings? I live almost in Missouri, know a lot of people in the Old-Time community, have been collecting material from Missouri fiddlers for years, and never found anything recorded by Bill Driver, for example, nor from a lot of the other fiddlers you have there..
Congratulations on a wonderful job, and THANK YOU!

I had the books out just yesterday and being able to hear recordings will open up a world of possibilities for learning new tunes. I'm very grateful to you and can't wait to listen. Thank you.

To tell you the truth I thought I had bit off more than I could chew at first. Then I found this web site
shs.umsystem.edu/manuscripts/i...3971.html
Lots and lots of neat stuff!
I've got permission to do the 2nd book as well but I'm not sure I wanna tackle that one.

I'll be your best friend if you do that one too.
Larry, Thank you so much for doing this. I bought that book in the early 70's and have learned so much from it - now I'll learn even more.

The 2nd book is going to be a problem.
I've heard that RP had Alzheimer's and really could not remember the names or where he got the tunes from. For example the very first tune in book 2 says "Author can recall neither source nor title"
2nd tune in book2 "This version is based on memory from hearing an elderly widower playing it."
Also, in the beginning of book 1 RP states that much of his collection was stolen.
So finding most of the source recordings, me thinks, will be darn near impossible.

Wow - I'm in awe! Before the books were republished a year or so ago, I started laboriously transcribing the tunes from a library copy into ABC notation, but your collection is far more helpful. Many, many thanks.

A true gem. Many of these recordings have not seen the light of day for years. It's a thrill to be able to hear them.
Although R.P. transcribed the tunes, Larry has presented the tunes so that they can be learned by ear by those who prefer that style of learning fiddle tunes. And, everyone who takes an interest in fiddling from Missouri and surrounds can hear the little nuances of style that just can not be transcribed.
It was a pleasure to watch him work. :-)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - thanks Larry for another incredible piece of work. Such a gem.

Thank you for your efforts in collecting and posting these great recordings!

Track 61 by Bill Driver which is labelled simply as "Breakdown" is called Clyde Durst's Tune. This was the title Cyril Stinnet used on either LP (Mahoney's Reel or Salty River Reel)

I've been having a really good time with this site of yours. Many thanks.

I'd be interested to hear some names put on the tunes that are just named with a number, eg. Breakdown xxx.
