Hi All,
On the web site for the Clifftop Festival, it states that the gate is open from 8 AM to 11 PM. Does this mean that if I am parked in the Camp Washington Carver parking lot, I can't leave after 11 PM? (I've tried contacting the camp but they haven't responded). If so, does anyone know if there is parking near the camp but outside the gate? (I ask because I am considering staying off-site but don't want to have to leave before 11 PM). Thanks.

No, I'm pretty sure it means you can't come in/check in after that. I have a few friends who are local, they often leave after midnight without issue. I also have friends who stay at Babcock State Park and even though I'm pretty sure that park closes at 11, they also stay late.

Where are you staying? I'll be camped on the edge of the field where the stage is, back left corner along the trees (facing out as if you were on stage). Swing by we'll have a tune.

I'll look for you. I'm staying in a motel about a 30-min drive away. Most of the reasonably-priced Airbnbs near Clifftop have already been taken. I'm unfortunately not a musician; I'm a dancer and listener. My son plays banjo and I've jokingly asked to borrow his banjo and case just so I can walk around with an instrument in my hand. ...

I'll be there in line to get in on Friday on through Saturday or Sunday when it's over. Will be in a Pepsi Blue and white teardrop camper with a bunch of folks from Pennsylvania mostly.

Yes, don't worry about leaving late! My wife and I have a day camp in the heart of the campground, but sleep in a rented cabin in Babcock State Park, which is adjacent to the festival site at Camp Washington-Carver. We always play late into the night (sometimes until it starts getting light!) and then drive back to our cabin. On the road out, across from the (then-closed) entrance booth, there's a  sheriff/deputy car stationed at night to turn away anyone trying to drive in after hours, but you're free to leave (you don't have to stop on the way out, but watch your speed).

Also, especially if you're tired, keep an eagle eye for deer at night, scanning the roadsides, ditches, and nearby woods! West Virginia has one of the highest rates of car/deer collisions in the country, and there are almost always deer out late at night along the roads there, and they can leap out in front of you all too quickly. We've never hit one, fortunately, but we drive that route slowly and carefully at those hours, and have had to brake for deer many times! Also, if you see one, there may well be more deer close by. Stay safe!
