I've played this one more on guitar than banjo, but it's really a banjo-ish tune I think. So today I played it on the banjo tuned to Double C...tuned up the fiddle to GCGC, and got to scratching out and singing some...found a photo of the shed and chicken coop in our back little postage stamp hillside that i'd taken through the kitchen window on one cold morning, and did myself a quick youtube. Anyway, here's what I came up with today. Hope all my FHO friends have a wonderful day. Spring is on the way.

Thanks, Enjoyed listening!

The ‘groundhogs’ are such a good one-woman band…singin’, banjo, fiddle…all sound so good :-)

Thanks, NC. Those groundhogs are ok to work with except they guzzle all the coffee up...sheesh.

Thanks, Scotty...I wish I could hear your granddad play! Absolutely bob sounds pretty awesome. I have an online friend in England who is teaching me to speak English...lol...I know now that when I'm feeling knackered a good sarnie will get me going again...lol. I always tell him I just don't speak English.

Thanks again, guys.

It's so cool that there are still some differences for regions around the country. My friend tells me about that once in a while...he seems to know a lot about all the English language variants. We used to have that here in the states, but somehow everybody's local color got washed out during the past 50 years or so. There's still some around, but I think it's all blending into radio talk or maybe now YouTuber talk or something...lol.  I took a Russian 101-102 course in the university where I worked...mainly because tuition was free and I just sometimes took classes I was curious about...anyway in that year of Russian, Russia was changing fast and their language was changing too...we did some reading of current Russian, and all the way back to Tolstoy Russian...that was fascinating...of course since I had no place to use the language and couldn't work in further studies into my work schedule...I've forgotten everything except how fascinating language and cultural/political changes are.

Yeah...it's a shame to see languages sort of dissolve. I didn't learn much Russian, but yes it was really hard...I was working in a university library at the time...diddleysquat job, but we had some Russians from our sister city come through our department at the library one day. I knew enough to ask if that was Russian they were speaking and tell them welcome to Kentucky and we hope they enjoy being here and I enjoyed meeting them...I'm sure I got a lot of it wrong but they got the point. They were so overjoyed that ONE person they ran into on campus went through the effort to speak their language with them...they really responded in a very grateful way. I was kinda surprised, really, I was more like just trying to show off a little bit...lol...but then I was so happy to give them such a warm reception to our little corner of the university. It means a lot for people to know someone tries to bring some little bit of acknowledgement of their home far away.

Well it is hard if you have nowhere to put it to use. That thing I did as I told above was during the time I was also taking Russian...lol. I've forgotten almost all of it by now.

I hate it when I write a big ol' thing on here and then whatever it is you can hit, it just all vanishes...lol...gosh don't ya just hate it when that happens? It's always the good stuff that disappears too...lol.
