We always sat around singing this one at the dorms in college days, and then I also sang it at the old Steak House in SE Kentucky, in my musical career of playing for tips for about 18 months...lol. Anyway, it's more fun with a multi track recording machine...for sure.

Fiddle didn't do much but is tuned ADAD, banjo tuned Double C with that ol' 5th string up a notch to match up in D...and guitar and groundhogs just being guitars and groundhogs.

Oh thanks, all y'all! I really had fun singing that one...it's really been a long time since I thought much about it. I was watching a soccer match today, from Iceland (playing a Greek team in UEFA Conference League), and at halftime they played John Denver singing this. Made me grin ear to ear and it made me immediately think of you Peggy.

They also had to clear the snow from the pitch to play. Piles of it behind the goals. Brrrr

Almost settled in WV after retirement, but then life happened.

We lived high on the hog when I sang at the Steak House...hubby was a cook on their indoor charcoal steak grill...minimum wage of course....Iol...I worked for tips...but they had to get rid of whatever prime rib and salad they had left over from the night before...so...we were totally broke but we ate pretty well. Can't afford anything like that now.

Really I like WV too, but I was sure missin' SE KY while I sang that one, even though I was sayin' WV...lol.

Hate to see Kentucky getting so much flooding yesterday...loss of life and property...we've visited so many times we consider it our second home state.
