Kitchen Girl Coffee House is proud to present

Rachel Baiman & Christian Sedelmyer

Two in-demand Nashville fiddle players have conspired to create a program of American folk music as you've never heard it before. Christian Sedelmyer (formerly of The Farewell Drifters) and Rachel Baiman (of Belfry Fellows), are used to playing a traditional fiddle role in full bands, but share a belief in the infinite possibility of their instrument. A mutual love of old-time, bluegrass, and folk traditions has bred a duo project that is unique in its instrumentation, but familiar in its message.

Christian Sedelmyer, originally from Erie Pennsylvania, moved to Nashville in 2008. He has since performed and/or recorded with Peter Rowan, Nora Jane Struthers, Roustabout, The DanBerrys, The Greencards, Jeff & Vida, and is most well known as a previously full time member of acoustic pop group The Farewell Drifters.

Rachel Baiman grew up in the Chicago area and is a two-time Illinois state fiddle champion. Since moving to Nashville, she has appeared with Kelsey Waldon, The Flea Marketeers, and on the Grand Old Opry with Mike Snyder. Most recently, Rachel has joined progressive folk quartet Belfry Fellows, formerly known as Rockin’ Acoustic Circus.

Christian and Rachel began playing together in the summer of 2011, when a need for extra cash found them busking regularly in Downtown Nashville. Their two-fiddle jams soon led to complex arrangements, ticketed shows and a full-length album to be released in the summer of 2012. Using just two 5-string fiddles and two voices, the act is an arena for mesmerizing acoustic innovation.  Harmony vocals, soulful lead-playing, original compositions, percussive back-up, and ripping fiddle-tunes are all in the mix for this not-to-be missed duo.
