Sule Greg Wilson--banjoist, dancer and drummer (and founding member of
the Carolina Chocolate Drops)--will be the featured guest at a special
meeting of the Fiddle Club of the World (Chicago Chapter) on Sunday,
May 29 at 6:30pm. The Club meets in the back room of the Atlantic Bar
& Grill at 5062 N. Lincoln in Chicago. The evening starts with a
concert to be followed by a jam session/workshop. The Fiddle Club
website hosts downloadable sound files of tunes to be learned for the
session, including Colored Aristocracy, Old Joe Clark (Drops' style)
and Wowoya, an African spiritual. Sule will also teach us the soft
shoe classic Shim Sham Shimmy in preparation for the Fiddle Club
Square & Ceilidh dance to be held at the July meeting.
Registration for this single meeting is $15. Yearly dues of $60 gets
you in to all Fiddle Club events. Besides saving money, you get a
nifty Fiddle Club card with your name and renewal date. Check out
