As a boy of eight or nine at the St Mary's Club on Church Street, Dublin, Paddy Glackin asked a fiddler sitting by the piano the name of a tune. A week or two later the man put a hand in his pocket and gave him the tune, written out by hand. In Ep2 of the CreativLoop podcast, Paddy names him (06:24): "Now that man['s] name was Ted [Furey] and he was [Finbar Furey's] father."

Paddy goes on (06:32): "So you grew up in that environment of generosity, spirit of generosity from older musicians"
