My only thought is that is that's an okay size for a viola but awfully big for a fiddle. Is your fiddle really that big? Other than that I can't say what the viola you're asking about is worth. Why do you want to play viola? Or do you plan to string the viola like a fiddle, too?
Brian Wood Yes that’s the size I play and Yes it’s strung like a fiddle. I just use the the G, D & A strings and then put a .010 gauge guitar string in for the E. It works a treat. You see l mostly play a fiddle the same size tuned an octave lower so I want to keep the finger spacing the same for both. Otherwise my intonation goes all over the place.

Originally posted by bacfireI bought a solid violin off Ebay about ten years ago for $90. It was crazy heavy, so I drilled about 50 holes in it. I've never replaced the strings, but I do have to tune it every 3-4 years.
Yep I think I'll get it. Even if the headphones stop working it will a handy practice tool. I'll have the drill ready! Thanks
