Kitty Lye Over ...Etc

1. What would you do if the kettle boiled over?
What would I do? Only fill it again.
And what would you do if the cow ate the clover?
What would I do only set it again.
2. The praties are dug and the frost is all over
Kitty lie over close to the wall.
How would you like to be married to a soldier?
Kitty lie over close to the wall.
3. The praties all boil and the herring's a roasting
Kitty lie over close to the wall.
You to be drunk and me to be sober
Kitty lie over close to the wall.
4. What would you do if you married a soldier
what would you do would you follow his gun?
And what would you do if he drowned in the ocean
what would you do would you marry again?

Very Nice. I like the ornaments. I'm not so sure about the lyrics you included, but don't have any better right now.
I don't play Irish music, but I'm interested in it. I recently realized that most of the recordings and music collections I have are from the Irish-American community over here, not from Ireland. I found some early cylinder records online, but they're mostly songs, not instrumentals. But I also found a .pdf copy of Joyce's "Old Irish Folk Music and Songs," from about 1900. Turns out that #83 is "The Frost is All Over," but its a hornpipe in A Dorian mode (written with one sharp). I want to post it, but need a little more practice - the B part requires a shift or slide to reach a high C. I'll keep working on it.
Here's Seamus Ennis playing and singing it 8n 1974: youtu.be/nbM3KtWQwsI?si=OMxiKXTptCdRM4oQ
I believe he learned it from Elizabeth "Bess" Cronin of County Cork.

Nice playing. I really enjoy the tone you're getting...single notes, but with he wood of the fiddle and the string together having a little bite that dances the tune along.
