I tried this once before, but nobody seemed very interested. I've made quite a few recordings over the years, some with fiddle, some not. I thought you all might enjoy some of them Here's one: youtu.be/Cbh3ya-HeM4?si=x5u6Q1gJacu3mNI6

PS - If anybody else has something they'd like to share, please do.

Okay. Wait a minute.
How did you produce this video?
What kind of sound file did you breed with the still/picture file?
I'm listening with Koss headphones. It freaking sounds amazing! It sounds direct from tape. (Tape stored tails out)

Steve - I had nothing to do with the upload to YouTube. This was recorded for Flying Fish records, which was bought by Rounder, and are now part of the "Universal Music Group" (same as the Highwoods records) who placed it on YouTube. I don't know how they did it.
This was recorded in Guy and Candie's living room. We recorded a couple albums in studios and found it was easier and cheaper to record in their log house. It was recorded direct to two track digital, using the Sony PCM 501 consumer level digital recorder and a modest 12 channel console, and probably an Alesis Midiverb II for some ambience. No compression or EQ beyond the board. My friend Pam did the graphic design, but I don't know who painted the lovely painting.
Hope you enjoyed it. The entire album is on YouTube.

Steve - Thanks for listening on your Koss phones. These recordings were not made with smartphones or tablets in mind, but "Time Changes Everything!"
I didn't intend to get too nerdy about tecording techniques, but the Sony PCM F1 digital recorder was a gamechanger. You can read about it online if you're curious.
The point is always the singer and the song, which I think is still relevant today.

Holy cow Doug, this recording is SO good! I feel like I'm in the front row. It makes me realize how subpar a lot of the music is online (from the audio/technical standpoint). I can hear the difference that pro recording makes...Voice, guitar, harmonica all sound beautiful. (Lots of muddy boomy guitar players online, which is not their playing or their guitar, but their mic... :-)

Not to gush on, but I KNOW! !

It's ridiculously good. In fact it got me back into taking the dust covers off the recorder and giving it another try.
