I'm far from a Deadhead, but I love this beautiful video of one of their songs: youtu.be/MHo1fNnXFVU?si=1TS0qvQ6zZ7XeCMi He wasn't involved, but some other greats were. Some fine fiddling from several continents. "Let there be songs, to fill the air."
The Dead were and still are my first love. I discovered them at the ripe age of 16. I proceeded to dive in and caught my first show in DC at 18. I was hooked and skipped town to catch their next show in Pittsburgh. I believe a couple shows after that, Jerry had passed. I was a part of many Dead Cover Band projects and caught the remaining band members over the years. Sad because Bobby was the youngest and healthiest of the group. It's very grate knowing that the generations on here and abroad, have gotten to see some of the best musicians that will ever exist. There will never be another Beatles or Grateful Dead. And many of us got to witness that. I'm all about the music that came before and the music that will evolve. Thanks for posting this...
I gotta admit, though, that the moment Punk/New Age rock-and-roll hit the airwaves in the 1970's I instantly lost my affection for the San Francisco Hippie aesthetic. To put it mildly, I was totally blown away by the fury and energy the punk bands were able to generate. My friends were appalled at my ninety degree turn in musical aesthetics. In any case, I was new born. I cut my hair. I became a regular at the Whiskey A Go-Go on the Sunset Strip. This didn't prevent me, though, from continuing to listen to the music I've always loved the most -- Classical.
Forgot to mention that like many in Bluegrass today, I discovered Bluegrass through Old and in the Way and the rest is history.
My timeline went like this:
Reo Speedwagon, Elvis, Pop Country when I was a young child.
Then I discovered metal, onto hip hop, and then grunge/alternative. I was a skater most of my young life so whatever went with that coulture I took in. Then it was Dead and Onto O & ITW...
Classical is AMAZING
