I am still looking for a book that provides exercises for ornamentation and bowing techniques for Irish fiddle tunes. I have book and recordings for "The Complete Irish Fiddler". It is an excellent book. But I would benefit from having a book that focuses more on ornamentation and bowing technique. All or part of a tune could be included to demonstrate use of a technique. Recording would also be available.

I periodically nag publications to publish a fiddle book using the same approach as Steve Kaufman's guitar "Parking Lot" series. Three versions of every tune - beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Recordings for everything in the book. In addition, verbal instructions and hints on how to play more complex licks. I think a book like this would be very popular with beginners and intermediate level fiddlers.

Have you tried asking at
thesession.org?

Many Avid and knowledgeable Irish Trad players there!

(Just brace yourself for all the ones who will tell you “can’t be learned out of a book” …)

Have you ever gone to Brother Steve's site? It is whistle centric but has all the exercises for working out the various cuts and pats that make up the language of Irish music.

Brother Steve's Whistle Pages

I would also recommend Grey Larsen's book that is also flute/whistle centric but goes into great depth on "ornamentation."
