Very cool, Doug - never heard a version like this.

And I recognize that voice! Hearing this clip made me realize you must be the one singing "been all around this world" on feed your babies onions (I'd double check the liner notes if I had any clue where they were :). Anyhow, that's one of my favorite vocals ever, and I must have listened to it a zillion times.

I got to meet and record Carrie and Ada Powers, who played on that record as young girls. There are some interesting interviews with Ada at the Digital Library of Appalachia.
We worked this up for a festival at Natural Tunnel State Park in Duffield, VA in 2007. Lately, I've been playing with some pretty seasoned musicians and we thought it would be fun to do this in a medley with the better known version, but we never could make the transition. It was funny trying.
