Alfred Armhaalalasa (Arto Järvelä) AEAE 2’27 Alfred Niemistö (1876-1948) from Kauhajoki was probably the one and only fiddler who built and played viola d’amore. The instrument he made ca. 1905 belongs nowa- days to Kauhajoki museum. At the moment musician Kreeta-Maria Kentala plays it in Kaustinen. I visited Kreeta-Maria and tried Alfred’s ’love fiddle’. I played it a while and recorded little soundclip to my mobile phone. At home I gave a listen to it and figured out that there is a brand new waltz there. Kreeta-Maria’s homebase in Kaustinen is called Armhaala and there Alfred’s spirit gave me this tune through his viola d’amore!
