Hi Tom,
I don't know anything about either of these microphones (DPA4099 nor ATM350). I intentionally kept it that way before listening. I'd say that the DPA4099 track sounds more brilliant and clear, with a better dynamic range. However, I do think the recording level of the DPA4099 was set higher, which may influence the results. My guess is that the DPA4099 is the better mic.

The DPA4099 picks up the highs better-
the ATM350 picks up the lows better.
I bet a stereo recording with the DPA on the top and the ATM350 underneath
would be superb!!!

I agree, the 4099 sounds brighter and clearer to me also, more trebley. My personal taste is for the slightly more rounded sound of the 350 but really, I don't think there's all that much difference. You could easily close the gap between them with some minor adjustments.
