Ya'know, I have all of Kessinger's recordings from the period after he was "re-discovered" - and playing in his 70's. But I've never sprung for the early recordings he made in his prime.
I'm thinking this has been a big mistake, since they're the ones that influenced all the "real" fiddlers. The "revivalists" out here in the East can't bring themselves to admit Kessinger is somebody they should listen to because he plays "too well" --- go figure... ;-)
Great playing though - thanks again to both of you.

OT Junky, I am Kessinger admirer as well. I think his Wednesday Night Waktz in the key of "C" is outstanding. Gayle

One of my favorites and this is one of the best versions I've heard. I've always wanted to try it but haven't figured it out by ear. I would love to have the sheet music if you could scan it and email it that would be awesome. Thanks, Joe

Joe,
Glad you liked the tune. It is one of my favorites as well. Sorry that I do not have the sheet music. I learned the chords by playing along with Orville Burns and Gary Lee Moore. Perhaps you could download the tune and get someone to score it for you. Orville told me that that "C" chord was worth a thousand dollars.

Gayle, I downloaded it months ago and have worn it out on my IPod and CD. I kind of have picked out some of it (on fiddle) but just need to work on it some more. I build my on fiddles and play them and my guitar is a Martin D28. I like the those Gibson's too. Hard to beat a Martin or Gibson. Take care, Joe N5RRC

Really nice. Is this a raggy version of Eck Robertson's familiar version?

Thanks Jim,
I really dont know about Eck Robinson's version but I think this arrangement came from Clark Kissenger. Great tune and fun to play.
I made the Athens contest a couple of times.
