Nearly seven years ago, my friend, Bill Paine, very kindly shared with me hours-and-hours worth of his Clifftop jam recordings. This was all before I'd ever picked up a fiddle, but had only threatened to learn the instrument. I listened to those CDs over and over on my drive cross country, to my new home and my new pastime. They were so enjoyable to listen to. I loved the tunes and the late night banter. Nothing was cut or edited out. I could hear folks joining and leaving my buddie's jam circle, with occasional introductions being made as musicians joined the group. Anyhow, of everything, one tune really stood out for me, hooked me. It was "Granddad's Favorite" and it's become one of my all-time favorites. Thanks, Bill, for sharing it.
