A very nice version of one of my favorite Civil War era songs. Written by Benjamin Hanby in 1856, it was one of the most powerful anti-slavery songs of the day. Well done!

Thanks, Tim. This song has special meaning for me since it is connected to family history. It is a very powerful song! I am frequently asked to play/sing this song and most people are shocked to learn that it is about slavery. After reading Solomon Northrup's book and seeing the film, I sure have a whole new understanding of the horrors of that "terrible institution."
