I had what I considered the "definitive" version of the tune, that Flatt and Scruggs released on Columbia 45 rpm record after the release of "Bonnie and Clyde" (who raised me!) back in the '60's. I've heard them do no other version better, and I think one can still find it around- I'll have to search youtube. One of the greatest recordings of all time, with "Moon River", "McArthurs Park", and "It Was A Very Good Year", I think.
