Well, I had an idea that it wouldn't be ALL that long, what with the greater availability of fiddles in the US, for you to upgrade.

Is this a Royce revoice fiddle? Is the Gliga down the road, or acting as backup/cross tuning fiddle?

Tell us more!

Well, I still REALLY want either a Royce Burt or KCFiddle here as soon as I can get one. As far as the Gliga? I'm not sure yet, I'm currently leaning towards unloading it, but then again, I think about it and I think I would miss it. I negotiated a little better settlement on my old job before leaving Arg and convinced my wife to budget me 400 for another fiddle. Chris Armstrong from " The Bluegrass Shack" had some fiddles for a 7 day trial and she recommended this one and another, especially this one, according to the sound I was looking for. It's not the purtiest varnish, but I still really liked it, the sound recordings "sounded" great. She sent it and I instantly heard and felt a difference, especially after I put on new strings so I fell in love with it. It came set up for fiddling and bluegrass. It has a tad bit higher action and a thinner neck which to my surprise, I actually prefer over the Gliga, which is wider. Price wise its the same as the gluga but its an upgrade to me. Its louder, fuller sounding and the notes seem to project better with less effort. The tone is dry but sweet and bright in the uppers, just what I like. The thinner neck and action is more comfy too. I seem to be able to do string crossings better and cleaner as well since the strings are closer together. Its Chinese, handmade in a small Beijing shop that works with the Bluegrass Shack. They make it and send it to her and she (Chris Talley Armstrong) either approves it or sends it back. It seems to be built on a Strad pattern with Guarneri F holes. They work exclusively with this shop and one other one in China. The next fiddle will be from Royce or Mike. This fiddle will be my all purpose outdoor jam festival and whatever fiddle. Its loud and really projects, great jam fiddle. When I purchase my burt or kc fiddle, im gonna take sometime and try different ones in person and see if I can find something really special. This one is fantadtic though, youd like it! I'll record it soon.

Great, glad to hear it.

The thing about Gligas is that they are fairly well known, so it might be easier to resell than a lot of other low end violins.
Also, I think time will tell.... if it gets to where you can hardly stand to play the Gliga, I figure it will being going "bye-bye".

very true....I may tweak the set up on it first. Don't get me wrong, I think the Gliga is a great little fiddle but so far I like the feel on this one alot better.
