Mine's the same color, too. How did you come up with an exact date?

There is a handwritten label inside that says Jacobus Stainer, etc, etc, with a date of 1842. I had to take it to the local violin store to have new pegs made for it, and they said there was no reason to doubt 1842 as an accurate date, as everything was consistent with other fiddles from around that time frame.
