First building attempt from a kit of Chinese origin. Looks pretty darned good at six feet but will never pass a close inspection by those in the know.

Oooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh, now i see. I thought at first it was 6 foot tall, I thought, who plays that? The Jolly ho ho ho Green Giant? She must be a really big girl. It looks good from 6 feet away, I get it. I think it looks very good, how does it sound??

You can see it played by a pro on my YouTube channel here - youtube.com/watch?v=NMP_ggy3U2A
I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it sounded right away and it just keeps getting better. One day I will be skilled enough to do it justice ;-)

I ordered the kit from eBay seller bezdez for $48.00 + postage from Canada. They also sell some tools and glue and fittings, etc.
After I posted about the SFF on Fiddlerman.com, one of the members asked me to build him a kit fiddle, so I ordered again from bezdez. The quality difference is noticeable, but I think the second fiddle will be even better than the first. I'm documenting the build on thefiddleproject.blogspot.com, which (much like my info here) is overdue for an update.
It is a very satisfying project, IMHO, and you can end up with a really nice fiddle for a little cash and as much time as you want to devote to making it better.

Did you build others? If so, what did you think of the kit(s)?
