Thanks Diane. I have the adhesive off of all the ribs. I will cover the scratches tomorrow and then start putting it back together.

Hi...I admire your great work and determination....we need more people to step up and rescue some of these old but decent fiddles instead of just using them for wall hangings!!!
Be careful of an oil based paint...put it on very sparingly and wipe it off with a dry rag. You can always do another coat and build it up slowly...it will look better in the long run. Do you think the original finish is an oil one?
Have you heard of the Tombo pens...some are water based as these are and the other ones that are alcohol based are called Copic...you have to be careful when you use these though...if there is no sealer under and you use the Copic pens...the spot will turn black and it will not come out. Best of luck. Please post a picture when you get it finished.
Stay tuned. Diane

The little bit of oil paint I used seem to blend right in to the finish; so, may the original finish was oil based. On the photo there is a black spot on the rib; maybe, whoever messed this up with the J-B- Weld used a Copic pen too.
