Some Tony feller built that one. From what I heard, thats the best existing varnish on any of his fiddles. The rest of them, the varnish is mostly worn away. Did you notice the sloppy sanding job he did on it? You could build a road on that corduroy.

Just depends on whose standards. Meets mine perfectly, and I am aware of a number of others who prefer this over bowling ball shine. There's room for all tastes, even for those preferring things to look handmade, like this.

That's so true. I by far prefer the handmade look but it is surprising how many people want that bowling ball look, at lest in this neck of the woods. Like you said, there's room for all tastes. The best I can do is a sort of used bowling ball.

My favorite finish by far......I like them looking like those funky corduroy jeans I use to wear many moon ago !!
