How do you hold it? Why the sheet metal? How is the bridge/tailpiece constructed.

Its all pine - my next will be all ash cuz it is light and strong. Pine is OK but the bridge should be maple - the strings cut through pine. The blue hair is fishing line. It works great but you need more rosin.
I hold it like a normal violin. Its not as heavy as it looks. Sheet metal - it wont make a sound if you put the bridge down on the guitar pickup. Only if you put it really close to the strings and even then its not great because it isnt arched enough. The sheet metal that way picks up any vibration the bridge makes. The tail piece is a fender stratocaster bridge minus the saddle pieces.
I like alaskafiddler's picture - that is very cool.
