This is an outfit for a fiddler looking for an old violin with a lot of character that sounds warm and sweet. It’s had a hard life and has been extensively repaired. According to the Wurlitzer violin shop (there’s a little card typed out from the shop with a description and appraisal from 1971 included) the violin was made by the Klotz family in the latter half of the 18th century in Mittenwald, although the scroll is a replacement from Saxony. The bow is nickel mounted with a blind frog. The case is a nice old alligator skin case that comes with a purple interior, case blanket, and a homemade violin bag to match.
You might say this violin is like a shelter dog that’s been mistreated in the past and is looking for its “forever home” with an owner who will care for it and appreciate it. Although it’s had a lot of damage, the repairs are holding and it plays well.
