This charming violin was made in Germany in the 1850s-1870s and bears tool marks that display the working methods of the maker. At some point in its life it was given a Giuseppe Desiato label because someone believed it looked enough like that maker to pass it off as such. The previous owner bought it as an Italian violin and cherished it throughout his life. He had other violins but this was always his favorite and it was loved and played regularly until his passing. It has had some repair work, as you can see in the photos, but everything is solid (at the family’s request I performed structural repairs and reglued cracks but left the appearance on the outside as it had been). It has a rich and warm tone.
