I have been studying about fiddlers like Stephen Baldwin (1873-1955) who were representative of pre-Victorian fiddle styles we less legato and playing one stroke per beat. These pre-Industrial revolution styles included music for dances such as Morris dancing, cotillion, and quadrilles.

This is a first attempt to try something new. Since I adopted a classical type of now "entrapment" I find my fingers are more flexible and I have an easier time playing one bow stroke per beat.

Hey, that's my favorite song!

Nicely played. When you say "one stroke per beat," do you mean "one stroke per note." Sounds like sawstroke bowing to me, at least on the G run.

Cheers,
Tom

Yes, I should have said one stroke per note. Mr Horner said this is the way Smoky Robinson played. Clyde Davenport does not like this style. Check out any of Stephen Baldwin's recordings if you can to learn more.

Mugbug,

I think Twelvefret meant to say Smokey White from Blount County, Tennessee.

Here is my take on the tune.

Now, Chuck, how can you be sure what Twelvefret meant to say?
