Here is the tune we worked on last night at our fiddler's group, a basic version of Cold Frosty Morning in A minor. Fiddler is Maggie Robinson.

Nicely done. I like those melodies that don't really need chords behind them. They stick in your head. I also like your Larry quote too.

Thanks Mark,
fun lesson Sunday night, the jamming was nice too.
I recalled about 80% of Cold Frosty this morning, couldn't find that page of my fake book, it being in tatters so I'll have to have everyone play it slow Thursday night.
Hey Yawnofthe dead, it is a nice tune to play without backup but the chords to the B section are wonderful 'cause you can go to A major that works so well to lift the energy of the tune& then there is a walk up, or is it down?
Anyhow, Cold Frosty Morn as we play it in Pownal:
A) Am /Am /G /G
Am /AM /G /E Am :
B) A / A /G /G
Am C /D E /Am G /Am:
or something like that!

Fiddlewocky, I see what you mean about the Am-AM pickup. I especially like it when tunes go from Am-AM-Dm. It's a very nice chromatic chord change into the G or Dm (whichever).
