Hi, I just put up a tune on my blog and I'm really hoping to get some feedback on my playing. To me it sounds pretty wavery. Other input would be much appreciated!

Sounds pretty good to me. Sounds a lot like Ian Walsh on the instructional videos. From listening I would guess that you learned technique from someone familiar with Irish style fiddling. You may have driven to England and take a ferry to Ireland. That would be a big advantage.
By the way, when you back up a jig with the guitar, (1) do you use regular tuning, and (2) what strum pattern do you use ? I have read lots of guitar books, but I have never seen anything on playing rhythm for jigs.

Thanks for the comment Dick. The guitar is tuned Drop-D, so the low E-string is tuned down a whole step. I have the John Doyle CD on guitar backing. He obviously makes it look simple, but I think jig backing is insanely hard. Basically he does a (down up down) (down up down) strum for jigs, sometimes leaving out the up-stroke in the first group of three. But I guess the best is just listening to a lot of good guitar backing and trying to get that feel for jigs.
Thanks again for the feedback!

I listened to "Mountain Road" I enjoyed both guitar and fiddle, and if I were more deft in Irish playing, perhaps I'd have some helpful pointers; however, I just enjoyed the song as is.... Thanks,
Humbled

Nice playing.Sounded authentic. I bet it would sound even better with a full band behind you and a full pint in front of me.

That's nice playing. Some good ornamentation in there. I would try accenting the longer notes a little more, and then on the same bow moving into the start of the string crossing. Bowing into the note gets a good rhythm going. I'll say it again, nice tune boyo!
