Well, Ive been going over the jam recordings I made on my last trip to Missouri ...
My guitar playing buddy had a hard time finding the chords on most of my Appalachian stuff , so I played some more straight-forward tunes for him that I thought could fit the Missouri way of fiddling better ... most of our recording session was me hitting the wrong melody notes and him hitting the wrong chords ... but a couple of tunes worked out pretty decent ... I was also trying to record " Sopping the Gravy " which I was learning out there on my Christmas trip to MO. ,..from Clifford Hill, a great oldtimer fiddler who lives a couple miles from us ...he played "Soppin " for me and I was trying to get it in my head but couldn't quite fit it together until I got home and worked it out ... ok, so here's two tunes we recorded in MO. that sounded ok ... Black Mountain Rag ( which I seldom get to play because folks don't wait for the massive re-tuning of the fiddle ) and Texas Gals ... these were both played on my cheapy Chinese fiddle and his not-so-cheapy Martin guitar .
