Thought some of you might want to hear how the new five string fiddles sound. I recorded this the day after the first fiddle was strung up. One rocker (shredder?) and two classical players were playing around, handing the fiddle back and forth, and I just set my recorder on a chair nearby, so that might account for the poor quality. These are just a couple of excerpts; they played quite a while, and the rocker bought one.

Sure took a while to get around to posting it.............

Great to hear from you -I'm glad you're doing better! And thanks for the kind words.

I think the fiddle sounds wonderful, and so does everyone who's tried it, but the recording is awful. I didn't have time to set proper levels and such since I was just trying to catch some sounds on the spur of the moment.

The instruments really came out even better than I expected. The first couple of production fiddles will probably hit the varnish room next week. (We've already got a waiting list.)

Well - if that's a bad recording, that fiddle must have an astounding tone quality.

As you know, I've no desire for a 5-string - but I might buy one of those 5-string fiddles just to play on the top four strings...
