Well, Chuck, that is a unique one. I guess I can see why they call it "Grandfather Clock." Is that harmonics on the mando I'm hearing (just after the shave and a haircut part)?

Regards,
Tom

Yes, harmonics at the 12th fret mimicking the tic toc. The shave and haircut is another note sequence altogether. This is an old tune that children sang when I was in grammar school.

This tune always reminds me of childhood. I had a toy clock w/hands you could wind around. It played this tune. But I didn't know the part about "the old man died..." until much later.

I remember that song too. It was in a songbook we used in assemblies in grade school, a paperback about the size of the Old Farmer's Almanac. Can't remember the title at all, but I can see and feel it almost as if I had it in my hands. Nice touch, doing the "tick tock" with harmonics.

That is another song, by the way, by Henry C. Work, this one dating from 1876 according to this Web site: http://www.pdmusic.org/work.html

We had a thread a couple of weeks back about his "Marching through Georgia."
