That looks interesting. I've been trying to design a shoulder rest that would be stable. I haven't had good results. I never thought of magnets.

A short video demo would be useful. It's hard to know how well your idea works without seeing it in action. I wouldn't spend the money without seeing it and being able to judge its merits or shortcomings.

Our early prototypes included a magnet placed inside shoulder rest foam padding, which dampened the magnetic force too much and could not be adjusted. The current Violin Pro-Hold includes the velcro-like Mag Strap that can be wrapped around nearly all shoulder rests and is adjustable.

The Violin Pro-Hold is designed to work with almost all shoulder rests. However, if you have a some type of pad or padding on the bottom of your violin and would like to modify the Violin Pro-Hold to work with it, please send an email with a photo of your setup.
I am collaborating with another violin player and we have thought of couple different ways to attach the Magnet Strap to his padding setup. He is interesting in experimenting to find the best attachment method.

I enjoy experimenting with my set up. It seems like an elegant way to add some stability without adding rigidity . My instrument does tend to drift some especially when shifting which is so annoying. I'm going to give it a try.

For those that are interesting in purchasing a Violin Pro-Hold, please be patient. It has taken us three months, to finally find a company that can fabricate the very thin velcro-like Mag Strap needed to secure a magnet on the shoulder rest. At this time, we estimate that it will take 2-3 weeks to deliver a Violin Pro-Hold to your door.

A violin teacher that lives nearby wants to provide a Violin Pro-Hold to each of her two youngest violin students. I don't recall their ages. She wants them to experience their violins maintained in an stable position on their shoulder, so they can focus on other things.

I just received a set up and started to experiment with it. It took a few try’s to get the height positioning adjusted but it works as advertised and is simple. It’s not a total support system, the left hand still has to be active job to do but it does provide some security and neck tension relief in preventing the instrument from drifting down ( if you experience that problem) As always you should have the chin rest that works for you.

Greg Badigian (Peghead) - Good to hear that the Violin Pro-Hold is working out for you after a few height adjustments.

A violin teacher and video teacher at Oklahoma East Central University have offered to create a demonstration video that we can share on social media and on our Violin Pro-Hold web site. Thanks for all those that reached out or considered contacting me to produce a video.

I got to tell you that I've found excellent long term positioning and comfort on all three of my fiddles by personally going to violin stores and testing/buying various shoulder and chin rest combos. All three fiddles wound up with different brands & shapes of rests and, yes, all of them feel different, but the differences keep me fresh. They also lend each of my fiddles more distinct personalities.

The Violin Pro-Hold utilizes a thin velcro like material to hold a magnet on the shoulder rest. We were unsuccessful in finding a US company that could produce it. After a four month search, we found a Chinese company that could fabricate it and finally have this material to use in our latest generation Pro-Hold.

The Violin Pro-Hold will reduce strain on your head, neck, shoulder muscles and result in more relaxed and enjoyable playing experience.

I received this testimonial about the Violin Pro-Hold last week.
"I purchased Pro-Hold several weeks ago and it’s been a great aid in supporting the instrument. It’s a simple, elegant solution to a nagging problem that I and many other players may experience. Pro-Hold is very comfortable and extremely secure without being static. You don’t notice it’s there until those moments when it’s required. It’s such a relief, be able to adjust my positioning from time to time with confidence, knowing that the instrument will not move out of place." Greg Badigian
"The best feature in my opinion is its flexibility. The fact that it attaches to one's clothing allows movement through a range of expressive motion without fear that the instrument will drift out of position! Thank you for a wonderful addition to the world of violin playing." Greg Badigia
