If you find out something please post about it here. I wrote for the magazine for 30 years and I am not in the know. I would say that perhaps Ms Living found it more work and less money than it was worth. She is quite busy with other projects. There was discussion of a online E version but I have seen nothing since last winter. The domain name fiddlermag.com is up but there isn't anything past Summer 2023 on it. Print media is becoming out dated in these virtual times.

Here is a copy of an email I received from her on 2024-06-20. Last print copy I received was Winter 2023/2024, nothing since then.
Dear Subscriber,
Thank you for being a subscriber to Fiddler Magazine. As you may know, when I took over the reins here at Fiddler Magazine last year, the publication was in dire straits. This was not because of anything the previous publisher did or did not do, it was simply the nature of rising paper/ink costs, increased postage fees and a declining interest in the amazing art of fiddling.
For the past year, we have worked diligently on increasing both subscribers and advertisers. One year later, the needle has not moved. Advertisers are no longer looking to use print as their medium and postage rates and paper costs continue to rise. The book side of the business has been supporting the magazine, but for now we are going to have to take a step back. For the future issues (including the Spring issue), we are going to produce them as digital only.
We are sending out the Spring issue in digital format, and you will soon receive the Summer issue as well. As you can imagine, this has been a difficult and complicated process, but we are moving forward because the alternative is to stop production entirely.
In many ways, some of our readers find the digital magazine superior, as there are a couple of extra benefits.
- You can go directly to any links in the magazine, enabling you to visit websites of musicians;
- There are videos embedded directly in the magazine for your listening pleasure.
Your digital content will be emailed to you with each issue and includes a link to the magazine as well as the plain PDF version. The PDF is attached so you can print any music you might want.
Thank you,
Narielle

Well since I don't remember seeing the digital copies of the magazine I guess we can say RIP Fiddler Magazine. Bummer. Fiddler came along and Steve Davis quit doing the Devil's Box shortly thereafter. We are in a paradigm shift that is rattling our world in ways we haven't seen the end of yet. What's an old person to do? PLAY MORE TUNES!

Does everyone here agree with the assertion that there Is "a declining interest in the amazing art of fiddling"?
I tend to think the younger generation is just not inclined to use printed materials.
Am I missing something?

With so many other resources online...a magazine devoted to fiddling seems to be a quaint product of a bygone era. I have also observed there are now very few newsstands and mom and pop book stores. It's even getting hard to find a newspaper these days! To paraphrase George C. Scott in the movie Patton, "Oh, how I hate the 21st century".

Not here where I live. We have lots of younger fiddlers and most can read but don't when they don't have too. As for print media, it is going away at the moment.

The younger generation that I interact with are close to fully digital, few read books and they spend far too much time looking at (fill in the popular social media app). I agree they would likely not use a magazine. Me? I reread my Fiddler Magazines over and over, everything in them, including ads. They have mostly worn out and are in terrible shape (early issues, pre slick shiney cover).

When I got back playing the fiddle after a long absence, I bought several back issues of Fiddler Magazine that a member of this site was selling. I really enjoyed the content, so I contacted the publisher and bought the back issues they had available starting with issue one. I have every issue except for six of them. A gold mine IMO! Digital is fine, but I am old school and like a book or a magazine in my hands.
