This violin is a fine example of the violin making industry in Japan in the early part of the 20th century. It displays the practices of German violin making as taught by the makers who were sent to Japan to bring the craft to their artisans. Instruments of this kind have features that distinguish them from those of the German workshops, and they almost invariably have very good tonewood, the backs typically being made of domestic maple.
