I'm not having the best luck finding a case for my acoustic 5 string. The instrument is too big for any violin case I've tried, yet too small for any viola case I've looked at. I'm currently using a case meant for a 15" viola that I have added some padding to. I'm travelling to Ireland and Scotland in May and would like to bring my 5 string. My current case is pretty beat up and not fit for travel. I am wanting a more snug fit anyway. I would be interested in what some of the other players here have used.
It's about 8.5" wide or a touch over 21.5CM
It's about 14.5" long or a bit over 36.5CM (not including neck heel)

That sounds like my five string.... I found that Bobelock makes and adjustable case for small violas, they run about $300. I have a Bobelock for my four string and I like it, so it was common sense to stick with a known product... I just read a long blog about not getting a carbon fiber or fiberglass case..but that is a different discussion...

GEWA’s Air Luthier Viola case is supposed to be adjustable enough to fit anything from violin to most viola sizes. There are more and more adjustable cases on the market now.
