I've recorded a bunch of "Metis Style Tunes" and I have one on my profile page, if you'd like to hear it. It is an old tune that I learned from Gilbert Anderson, of Edmonton Alberta, who learned it from his brothers, Pete & Lawrence, who learned it from who knows.
The Metis dance for this tune is called The Reel of 8 which a square dance without calls. Another tune that is also played for this dance is "Whiskey Before Breakfast" but many of the traditional dancers prefer "The Old Reel of 8".
As I'm kind of new here, I guess you can go to my profile page and listen to the tune, I'm not really sure. I hope you like it.

Oh boy, I really like that tune, Calvin! When you teach at fiddle camps, do you include tunes like this?

Yes I sure do. Most every camp I teach at I do a metis workshop.

Think you'll be teaching at any U.S. camps this year?

I don't have any camps booked in the US for 2008. A bunch up in Canada though...
